For the longest time I couldn't bring myself to try to making 2D games in Unity3D, and really I still can't. Even as they've started trying to directly support it, I can't justify struggling against the clumsy implementations they employ (animations and 2D collisions come to mind). I also never wanted to rely on a 3rd party package to bridge the gap, because it puts you at the mercy of that developer's updates.

Over the weekend I decided to just buy some 3D art assets, since my biggest hang-up with working in 3D was that I can only make passable programmer art in 2D. I've been having a lot of fun working on a new project where most of the gameplay is in 2 dimensions, but it gains a lot from 3D physics collisions.

I will probably post a demo video in the next few days, there is still a lot of gameplay to implement but right now it's just fun to cause chaos.
